imx OMEGA - tools and extensions

Whether it be automated test plans for complex and reproducible motor tests, the control of an end-of-line test bench based on production or serial numbers, or the convenient creation of individual curves for load specifications with a graphical editor – our experience as a customer-oriented company has been incorporated into each of our software tools.

We want to make good software even better. To this end, we are constantly developing and combining special and interesting solutions based on imx OMEGA. Our tools and extensions can be summarized under the motto “Little helpers – big impact”.

imx OMEGA extensions overview

imx OMEGA Test-Plan

Performing a wide range of motor tests automatically and efficiently is the domain of imx OMEGA “Test Plan”. imx test types support the user when it comes to “scanning” electric motors for specific parameters. If such tests are repeated with different test parameters or if different test types are to be carried out automatically in a predefined sequence, test plans offer the perfect options.

The imx OMEGA test plan enables the cyclical repetition and chaining of predefined e-motor tests. This means that a test object can be subjected to a sequence of different test types without the user having to explicitly observe the sequence. In this way, tests can be carried out over longer periods of time without the intervention of personnel (endurance tests).

The reports generated by the individual tests are summarized in a document with all test specimen and test parameters as well as the test results performed. With the imx OMEGA test plan, not only can tests be automated, but recurring measurements on the motor can also be carried out reproducibly and without the influence of operator errors.

imx OMEGA End-of-Line

The quality inspection of electric motors on fully or semi-automatic production test benches usually begins with the identification of the test specimen. This is often done using production or serial numbers, which are transferred to the test bench software before the test via the network or by scanning a bar/QR code.

With imx OMEGA End-Of-Line, these numbers are used to load predefined parameter sets of the test procedures and the test specimen and to start test plans or individual measurements. Using the scanned ID, it is also possible to link the data and results of one or more tests to the uniquely identifiable test specimen.

Thanks to the dynamic recognition of each tested motor, modern imx end-of-line test benches not only allow identical DUTs to be tested on one line, but also, depending on the test bench hardware, a quasi “chaotic” configuration of the test bench.

If imx OMEGA End-Of-Line quality assurance is combined with our very fast and load-free imx Parameter Identification (imx PI) test type, motors of different types and sizes can be tested in seconds and their quality assured very cost-effectively.

imx OMEGA GraphiPEd

The imx OMEGA GraphiPEd tool is a practical “function generator” for imx test benches.

The graphical program editor (GraphiPEd) is available to the test bench user for defining and playing back signal waveforms. Elements such as ramps, triangles, rectangles or sawtooth, as well as pauses with different time and amplitude curves are available and can be linked together as required. Loops can also be used to iterate over individual areas. Such load profiles can then be used as target values for the load machine and/or the test specimen (e.g. speed and/or torque specification).

With the help of imx OMEGA GraphiPEd, load patterns can be generated without having to constantly adjust the parameters manually. Further functionalities of the imx tool are the limit value monitoring and the calling up of sub-programs.

Easy to use: The load curves are defined using a graphical editor in which the curves and iterations are defined using the above elements. A preview of the resulting curve is displayed parallel to the definition.

In addition to the graphical definition, it is also possible to enter data in a spreadsheet where each line corresponds to a state. Other functions such as loops, subroutine calls and limit monitoring can also be defined in the table.

imx OMEGA REval

imx OMEGA REval stands for re-evaluation of existing measurement data after one or more tests have already been carried out.

Gaining knowledge on a test bench often begins with the successful completion of a test. Active and passive test types form the basis for the precise and targeted measurement of motors and the determination of their parameters. Once a test has been completed, protocols, measurement data, test parameters and specimen parameters and the results data are saved.

With imx OMEGA REval, these measurement data, which were previously recorded by an automated process, can be re-evaluated and analyzed retrospectively. It is also possible to create a new measurement and results report.

The option of comparing several measurements with each other is particularly interesting. For example, the results of a motor test with different voltages can be displayed and compared with each other. In the area of quality assurance, motor data from production can be compared with that of a motor returned by a customer even years later.
