Corporate history
Where we come from
The company imc, founded by Dr. Franz Hillenbrand and Prof. Dr. Klaus Metzger, has been dedicated to the principle of load-free testing of electric motors in test benches since 1988. The imx PI method (PI = Parameter Identification) developed by Metzger/Hillenbrand revolutionized the testing of DC electric motors in the early 1990s.
imx Solutions GmbH founded
The former MTC (Motor Test Center) division of imc Test & Measurement GmbH became an independent company – imx Solutions GmbH – on January 1, 2022.
Ongoing development
Over 35 years, in parallel to the ongoing development of the now well-established load-free PI method, numerous products have been developed for the testing of electric motors and electric motor-driven components. Today, these are developed and exclusively brought to market by imx Solutions.
Continuing the founding idea
The company imx Solutions is now led in the second generation by Arne Hillenbrand and continues to live the founding idea of the inventors Metzger/Hillenbrand with a team of experts.

Range of Services
Turnkey imx solutions
The center of our services is the modern, fully automated electric motor and component test bench. From a single source, our customers receive exactly the solution they need to successfully complete the tasks at hand.
Turnkey imx solutions are never static. Flexibility and upgradeability ensure the use of each test bench also in the future. The integration of third-party devices or software via modern interfaces and the integration of the test benches into an Industry 4.0 framework are also part of the range of services.
In addition to our test bench solutions, we offer our customers a wide range of services. We help with the theoretical knowledge of modern electric motors and, as the inventor of the load-free electric motor test, provide our know-how and expertise in your projects.
Contract measurements of electric motors and the precise identification of properties and parameters complete our spectrum of services for effective parameter identification of the electric motor.
Our after sales service ensures the increased sustainability of imx solutions. In coordination with the customer, it increases the lifetime of each test bench and keeps it up to date and flexible for many years.

DIN EN ISO 9001
With our ISO 90001 certificate dated June 20, 2025, the accredited TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH certifies conformity with the globally recognized standard ISO 9001:2015.
The certificate registration number assigned to imx is 01 100 2200239, and the test mark number is 900 002 21 04.
The organization of the quality management system is defined according to imx Solutions GmbH’s own experience on the basis of DIN EN ISO 9001/9004 and integrates requirements of IATF16949, QS 9000, VDA Volume 6.1, environmental protection management according to Regulation (EEC) 1836/93 and ISO 14001 as well as European and German legislation, in particular on environmental protection, health management, occupational health and safety, equipment safety and product liability, with the aim of achieving “Integrated Product Responsibility”.
When organizing the testing, alignment and calibration work, we take into consideration, besides others, the requirements of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 and the EA documents published by the DAR (e.g. DAR-EM6, 9 and 10). The imx own procedures for alignment and calibration are qualified in regular audits (on request also together with our customers).
